Sigourney OKs up to $9,000 for pickleball-court divider; lighting quote to be reviewed

Duane Atwood, speaking for the pickleball committee, presented a photo and an initial quote to install a fence down the middle of two adjacent courts to prevent balls from interfering with play. The original estimate included three gates; Atwood said he would seek a revised estimate with two gates to reduce cost.
Council member McLaughlin moved and Council member Clark seconded approval of the community betterment request with a city contribution not to exceed $9,000. The motion passed 5–0. During public input Atwood also said the committee had obtained a Musco lighting quote; the council noted Park and Recreation will schedule a meeting to consider lighting options and costs separately from the fence funding decision.
The minutes do not include a final vendor selection, exact fence specifications, or final lighting costs; Atwood said a revised fence estimate will be provided.
