Stone Park committee hears police equipment updates, fire activity and public‑works repairs

The Village of Stone Park committee received departmental updates including police equipment status, fire and ambulance activity, and public-works repairs during its Oct. 22 meeting.
Police Director Chris Pavini reported that Sergeant Numanaj is overseeing repair of squad car #1204, which needs a new transmission but remains under warranty. Pavini also said the department has submitted a grant application to replace bulletproof vests that will expire this year. Clerk Laura Cassidy-Hatchet reminded the committee that Oct. 24 was the last day to accept full‑time police officer applications.
The fire liaison, Jack Giuffre (excused), provided the Fire and Ambulance Activities Report for August and September; the minutes note no major issues. Fire Marshal/Health Inspector Eugenio Mazzulla reported that health inspections are complete and that two fire alarms are listed "Out of Service;" the Board requested an update on the reason those alarms are out of service at the next meeting.
Public Works Manager Jessica Ramirez summarized recent maintenance: contractors finished landscaping on 43rd Avenue (Division to Hirsh) and on Division Street (39th to 44th), curbs and accessible parking near recently constructed water mains were painted, and AJD Concrete finished replacing the sidewalk and driveway at 1636 Mannheim Road. Ramirez also reported a repaired water‑main break on the 1500 block of 39th Avenue, ongoing tree removal in Casa Italia, and that the seasonal branch pick‑up service will end Nov. 1, 2024.
No public comments or new business were recorded. The committee adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
