The Park County Board of Commissioners tabled consideration of an outdoor event permit for the Badger Music & Arts Festival (A26-0026), scheduled for Aug. 12–17 on an approximately 40-acre property at 8 Apalachee Trail in Hartsel.
Applicant Robert Grosso and presenter Shelly Yarbrough appeared. Several residents registered opposition during the hearing, including Margaret Purnell, Jonathan Mead, Alex Mend-Robinson, Susan Jones and Suzie Bates. The festival — described in materials as a three-day outdoor music, vendor and camping event (formerly Badger Base Camp, held at this location since 2024) — prompted concerns noted on the record.
Commissioner Gemmer moved to close public comments and later moved to table deliberation and decision to the June 23, 2026, meeting, requesting additional information that was not provided at this session. Interim Chairperson Amy Mitchell seconded; the motion carried 2-0. The board instructed staff to return the item for deliberation and decision at the June 23 meeting.
