Stone Park trustees approve annexation, sewer rehab agreement and $314,395 in bills

The Village of Stone Park Board of Trustees on Sept. 10 unanimously approved an annexation ordinance, ratified an intergovernmental agreement for sewer work and cleared more than $314,000 in bills and routine ordinances.
Trustee Loretta J. Teets moved, seconded by Trustee Marco A. Gutierrez, to approve Ordinance 24-19 to annex the property at 1621 N. 39th Avenue from the Village of Melrose Park into Stone Park; the motion passed on a roll call vote with Trustees Teets, Marco A. Gutierrez, Sylvia Terrazas, Marco T. Paz, Nazario Garcia and Simplisio Roman recorded as "Aye." The annexation was listed on the agenda as Ordinance 24-19.
The board then ratified Resolution 24-06, authorizing an intergovernmental agreement with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago to perform a condition assessment and rehabilitation of sanitary sewers in Stone Park. Trustee Teets moved the resolution and Trustee Gutierrez seconded; the measure passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
On finance matters, Trustee Marco A. Gutierrez presented the bills for the period Aug. 13–Sept. 10, 2024, totaling $314,395.00 across funds (General Fund $237,670.29; Motor Fuel Tax $3,941.52; Water Fund $72,783.19). Trustee Gutierrez moved, seconded by Trustee Marco T. Paz, to approve payment of the bills; the board approved the expenditures unanimously.
Also approved were Ordinance 24-17 authorizing disposition of personal property and Ordinance 24-18 amending the village code section on designated depositories of village funds. Both ordinances were moved by Trustee Marco A. Gutierrez (24-17 seconded by Trustee Nazario Garcia; 24-18 seconded by Trustee Marco T. Paz) and approved by unanimous trustee roll call votes.
Clerk Laura Cassidy-Hatchet reported that trustees are adopting tablets to access board packets and email, reminded Trustees Teets and Gutierrez to arrange in-person setup, and said the tablets will remain at Village Hall for packet access via Google Drive.
No new business or attorney report was presented. The meeting adjourned at 6:36 p.m. The board is scheduled to reconvene on Oct. 8, 2024, when approved minutes will be entered into the record.
