Peggy King was designated to receive electronic applications and to field inquiries; the board discussed using an online form (Jotform) for standardized submissions and creating a landing page with FAQs, eligibility guidance (Director Area 5 residency requirement), and an address-verification suggestion pointing applicants to county elections resources.
Board members discussed selection criteria including the community's recent election results, the desire (in some discussion) to appoint someone who will not run in the next election, and attributes such as speed of onboarding and understanding of the community. The board said it will meet in executive session to define screening priorities and will publicly interview finalists; a special meeting would follow the interviews for a vote.
May noted that an appointed director will serve until the next available school-board election (the board cited November 2027 as the next opportunity), and the board agreed to coordinate schedules in August so all four continuing board members can participate in interviews if possible.
