Stanhope approves park repair bids, hears nearly-complete CIT Solutions infrastructure report

The Stanhope City Council on Oct. 14 approved bids to repair park property damaged in a claim and reviewed near-complete findings from the CIT Solutions infrastructure project.
Mayor Pro Tem Kempton Young presented bids to replace damaged park picnic tables (a full polyurethane set versus mixed materials) and noted a repair bid from Bill Murry for the bingo stand, jungle gym and shelter house. Council member Doug Sogard moved to accept the recommended bids and Jill Haman seconded; the motion passed unanimously among those voting.
Later in the meeting Young reported that the CIT Solutions project is nearly finished, but Hwy 17 mapping and cleanup remain outstanding. Approximately $9,500 is needed to complete that portion. The CIT report identified several infrastructure concerns — failing clay tiles, pipe breakouts and gaps, and tree-root intrusion that may require excavation to repair. Community member Suzanne Sogard asked about grant opportunities; Young said grants may be available but would be for next year and the project will return to the agenda next month.
The council did not commit additional funding at the Oct. 14 meeting beyond approving insurance-related repair bids, but flagged the remaining CIT work for future consideration and potential grant pursuit.
The council’s approval allows the city to proceed with insurance-claim repairs and to plan for the remaining mapping and repairs identified by the infrastructure assessment.
