Statham City Council convened a public hearing and work session March 3 at the Statham Community Center, approving the Feb. 17, 2026 minutes and receiving routine department reports before moving into an executive session on potential litigation.
Councilmember Burnette moved to approve the Feb. 17 minutes; Councilmember Penn seconded. A roll call recorded Councilmembers Terilli, Burnette, Patterson, Penn and Barton voting yes and the motion passed 5-0. City Accountant Rachel Bembry provided the Finance Department report; the minutes do not include specific figures or recommendations from that report. The Police Department report was delivered by Cpl. Knight and Lt. Hood, and Public Works Director Brett Day presented the Public Works report. Mayor Krause delivered a mayoral report; no committee reports were given.
During discussion items, library staff Janet Williams spoke about the Statham Library. City Accountant Rachel Bembry also spoke about the FY26 mid-year budget amendment; the minutes note the amendment was discussed but do not record dollar amounts or whether the council took formal action on the amendment.
Two members of the public spoke during citizen input. Christine Bogenrieder urged that profits from last year’s events be used as previously requested; Mary Lay reported damage to her car. The minutes do not record council responses to those comments.
At 7:14 p.m., Councilmember Patterson moved to enter executive session under attorney-client privilege pursuant to Georgia Code section 50-14-2(1) to consult on pending or potential litigation; Councilmember Burnette seconded and the motion passed 5-0. The council reconvened and exited executive session at 7:31 p.m.; City Attorney Jody Campbell stated that no decisions or votes were made during the closed session. Councilmember Patterson then moved to adjourn; Councilmember Burnette seconded and the meeting adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
The minutes record motions and attendance but do not include verbatim presentations, budget figures, or staff recommendations; those details would need to be requested from city staff or the clerk’s office for fuller public review.
