St. Charles council approves batch of resolutions on hires, meeting schedule and subdivision plat

The St. Charles City Council approved a package of personnel and administrative resolutions at its Oct. 7 regular meeting, voting unanimously on items that include hires, a meeting‑date change and a subdivision plat.
Mayor Dennis Smith presided as the council approved Resolution 10A to hire two part‑time public works employees and Resolution 10B establishing their hourly wages. Both measures passed on roll call. Council members who moved or seconded the motions included Tom Blomme, Whitney Hutton, Travis Brockett and Dan Kozak.
The council also approved Resolution 10C to hire a part‑time custodian for City Hall and the public library in partnership with Innovative Industries, with the city covering the custodian’s wages and Innovative Industries providing and paying the supervisor. That resolution passed unanimously (motion by Whitney Hutton; second by Dan Kozak).
In other actions, the council approved Resolution 10D to change regular council meetings to the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. (motion by Dan Kozak; second by Travis Brockett), and approved Resolution 10E adopting the Prairie View Subdivision Plat, a plat located within a two‑mile radius of the City of St. Charles (motion by Whitney Hutton; second by Tom Blomme). All resolutions recorded unanimous roll‑call votes.
The council also set a public hearing on a proposed budget amendment for Nov. 11, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall (motion by Dan Kozak; second by Travis Brockett). The hearing will allow members of the public to comment before the council considers any budget changes.
The meeting minutes show the votes were unanimous among the members present; council member Megan Allison was recorded absent for the meeting.
