Dickinson supervisors unanimously back applications for $1 million in state park grants for Lindenwood Park

The Dickinson Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Sept. 3 to apply for two state grants totaling $1 million for improvements at Lindenwood Park.
Chairman Rob Kole told the board the applications — Resolution 2025-13 to apply for $200,000 and Resolution 2025-14 to apply for $800,000 from the Commonwealth Financing Authority — would “help launch the long-anticipated development of Lindenwood Park” and could satisfy a required local match for a prior National Park Foundation application. “If successful, it could bring in another $1 million and fully satisfy our match requirement,” Kole said.
Manager Jill Lovett said the DCED Local Share Account submissions are intended to complement an earlier DCNR grant application and provide the initial funding needed to move site improvements forward. “This will not just be a one-time grant; it’s a start to get this project moving,” Lovett said.
Public support for pursuing the grants was voiced during the agenda public-comment period by Mike Shenk, co-chair of the Parks & Recreation Committee, who told the board the LSA grants would help “get the park started” and provide amenities the community would use.
The board approved both resolutions by unanimous voice vote. The motions were moved by Chairman Rob Kole, seconded by Vice Chairperson Jennifer DeGaetano, and recorded as passed 3–0 (Reichard and the township engineer were absent).
The board’s approvals authorize submission of grant applications only; neither award nor project design has been finalized. Manager Lovett was directed to continue coordination with partners and funders. The township will report back to the board as grant decisions or matching-fund obligations become known.
