The presenter outlined required staff training for 2026–27, including chemical safety, dignity for all students and anti‑bullying, mental‑health awareness, emergency management, sexual‑harassment training, pandemic preparedness and blood‑borne pathogen exposure; additional trainings anticipated include incident investigation, de‑escalation, and identification and reporting of child abuse.
She emphasized that drills must be trauma‑informed and avoid tactics that could trigger past traumas, and said mandated drills include four lockdown drills and eight evacuation drills annually.
Once the districtwide safety plan is approved by the board it will be uploaded to the district website and each school’s building‑level plans must be submitted to the state as confidential records.
