Commission approves as‑built solar conduit routing at 98 New London Road after applicant explains less‑invasive approach

Espacito said the field team chose the front routing because it was less invasive and that the equipment and conduit were painted to match the house and partially obscured by landscaping.
Commissioners asked for and reviewed photos of the installation, discussed runoff and clearance under the array, and noted available mitigation: a front skirt to conceal under-array components and critter guards to prevent nesting. One commissioner described the installation as an example of “ask forgiveness, not permission,” and commissioners emphasized that applicants should follow approved routing in the future.
A motion to approve the revised/as‑built routing for HDC26-0015 was made and seconded; the commission voted in favor on the record. Staff requested and received a photo record for the file and directed the applicant to coordinate any additional minor mitigation with staff if needed.
