Principals report enrollment, events and community support as board hears facilities and athletics updates

During the Aug. 12 meeting, Secondary Principal Kimberly Payne and Elementary Principal Shannon Wehling presented a joint report on enrollment, staffing and upcoming events. They told the board that open house will be Aug. 22 and homecoming is set for Oct. 11, and both thanked Arbor Bank, First Interstate Bank and United Faith Church for providing meals for staff professional development.

Maintenance matters were a central operational topic. Roger Salinas, recently hired as maintenance staff, introduced himself and outlined the open projects he is gathering information on and his initial plan for addressing the district’s workload. Superintendent Michael Brown reported on ongoing work to identify contractors for the concession stand project and said the district is investigating water issues at the football field.

The athletic director, Mr. Lang, said the summer weight program is progressing and reviewed recent changes to the fall sports schedule; the department also provided an update on the scoreboard and plans for the season. Administrators discussed the need to remain competitive on non-certified wages in neighboring districts.

The board discussed a Fixed Asset Inventory proposal to better track district property and considered adopting Simbli eBoard Solutions for online policy packet management. District officials emphasized the operational benefits of an inventory and the ability to add a meeting module for eBoard packets later.

No public commenters attended. The board moved on to approve routine motions and personnel items later in the meeting; the session adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
