Hogansville officials held a public hearing on Sept. 15 to review the city's 2025 millage rate. City Manager Lisa Kelly told the council and attendees that the millage rate "has remained the same for the past 22 years," and that the city anticipates approximately $132,493 in additional tax revenue from new construction and reassessments even though the rate itself is not increasing.
Kelly noted the procedural requirement that state law treats the notice as a tax increase when total revenue increases, even if the millage rate is unchanged. There were no citizen comments at the hearing, which Mayor Jake Ayers adjourned at 7:22 p.m.
The hearing does not record any council vote to change the millage rate; the transcript indicates the rate will remain the same for 2025. Further budgetary details and the city's final tax digest will be available through the city manager's office and published budget documents.
