Wilmont to document service lines and perform emergency pond discharge after flooding; pump rental expected

Maintenance reported flood-related emergency pond discharge will require a rented pump and that the State is requiring documentation of lead/copper service lines at individual homes; the clerk will publish notices and maintenance will use an iPad/AST app to capture the information.
At the July 9, 2024 meeting Steve Joens, who gave the maintenance report, told the council that lift pump floats had been repaired with tech support but that recent flooding required an emergency discharge of the city ponds. The city rented a pump from MRWA for that purpose and Joens said the city should expect a bill for the rental.
Joens said the County plans to inspect the County tile and may perform repairs in town related to the flooding. He also warned the council that the State is requiring documentation of lead and copper service lines; he said that staff will need to get into every house to photograph the lines where they enter residences to comply with the requirement. Clerk Amber Bertrand said she will run a notice in the Shopper and provide door flyers for households where residents are not home.
Joens told the council he can use the city iPad and the AST app to capture the required images and input the information. The council approved the maintenance report.
The immediate next steps recorded in the minutes were publication of notices to residents, documentation of service lines by maintenance staff, and processing of the pump rental invoice when it is received.
