Sigourney City Council approves consent agenda, renews insurance at July 17 meeting

Council Member McLaughlin moved, and Council Member Iosbaker seconded, to approve the tentative agenda; the motion passed on a 4-0 roll call vote. The council then took up its consent agenda. Council Member Lentz moved, and Council Member Iosbaker seconded, to approve consent items that included accounts payable claims totaling $85,949.01; the City Clerk's financial reports for May 2024; payroll, miscellaneous expenses, and ACH and monthly transfers for May 2024; the cigarette/tobacco/nicotine/vapor license renewal list; a $4,750 community betterment payment (one-half of website design); the credit card report; and the time and place for the Aug. 7, 2024 regular council meeting at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. The roll call vote was recorded as Ayes: 4.
The council separately approved the minutes of the July 2, 2024 regular meeting. Council Member McLaughlin moved and Council Member Lentz seconded the motion; the roll call vote recorded Ayes from Lentz, Conrad and McLaughlin and an abstention from Iosbaker. The motion to approve the minutes carried.
Council Member Iosbaker moved and Council Member Lentz seconded approval of renewal of the city's Property, Liability, Workers' Compensation and Boiler insurance policies at a combined annual premium of $70,698.00. The motion passed on a 4-0 roll call vote.
With no additional business recorded in the minutes, Council Member Conrad moved and Council Member Lentz seconded to adjourn; the council voted Ayes: 4 and adjourned at 6:16 p.m. The minutes list Steve Shettler (media) and Angela K.
