Wilmont council appoints Carolyn Penning to fill two-year vacancy

The motion was made by Councilmember Isaac Joens and seconded by Councilmember Alicia Entinger; Mayor Josh Balster and both council members present voted in favor.
The appointment followed a brief discussion about identifying potential appointees. Amber Bertrand, city clerk, reported she had asked absent member Tom Slater whether he had suggestions; he had none and deferred to the council's choice. The council approved Penning to serve the balance of the term and instructed Clerk Amber Bertrand to contact her to complete the appointment process.
The council took no public comment at the moment of appointment, and the minutes note the action passed without further conditions. The next regularly scheduled council meeting is March 12, 2025.
