The board heard annual site reports from Moreland Arts & Health Sciences Magnet School and Garlough Environmental Magnet School and recognized student accomplishments across the district.
At Moreland, Principal Rob Sahli presented the school’s "Be You!" theme and described arts integration across grade levels, partnerships with Puppets on Parade, Scott Stafford Dance, Opera for the Young and the Minneapolis Institute of Art, new connections with the Minnesota Wild and Vikings, and the SPARKS program that offers student‑selected exploratory days. Sahli said the school will continue efforts to strengthen literacy outcomes for English learners and expand family engagement through LEAP.
Garlough Principal Libby Huettl reported on an enrollment of 415 students, a 17% increase in reading fluency, a new natural playground to support outdoor learning, animal‑learning partners and initiatives such as new awards focused on effort and kindness and expanded SEL small groups using Character Strong resources.
The board recognized the Garlough Student Council for leadership work and honored Two Rivers High School student‑athletes for state competition results, including named qualifiers and champions.
