Mayor Beniamino Mazzulla told the Board on July 23 that the Village of Stone Park completed the purchase of Casa Italia the prior Tuesday. He said he will meet with the clerk and office manager to arrange additional insurance and to plan meetings involving the Building Commissioner; he also asked to include Trustee Loretta J. Teets and to designate a trustee backup when she is unavailable.
Mazzulla said he plans to meet with State Senator Harmon and State Representative Norma Hernandez to discuss and pursue funding for related work. Separately, he reported that construction on the empty lot on Mannheim Avenue, where the Durango Market once stood, is expected to begin in mid‑August and take about eight months to complete. The minutes do not specify the scope, contractor, or budget for that construction.
No closed session was held. The meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
