Shannon Hazelton, representing public works, presented a quote from Electric Pump for $12,379.00 to replace a valve at the sewage treatment plant and said the motor for the clarifier had arrived and was scheduled for installation on March 11.
Hazelton also proposed hiring a high-school intern for the water position under a program that reimburses the city up to $5,000 at the end of the summer; he said two local students had expressed interest and he would seek additional candidates. He noted the need to order a new pH meter for routine testing.
The council did not authorize immediate spending on the Electric Pump quote during the March 10 meeting; the item was presented as part of routine departmental reporting and will be considered in future budget actions.
