Council hears maintenance and public-works updates: gym repairs, sewer pump and water shut-off requests

During the meeting’s Comments and Concerns segment, JJ Veld reported the west gym door threshold crack had been sealed with spray foam and said he had arranged for Greg Jones to inspect gym furnaces on Tuesday, Jan. 14, after noting three furnaces were operating.
Shannon, representing Public Works, reported that a motor at the sewer plant needed inspection (Marc Havens agreed to inspect on Jan. 14) and that a recently installed sewer pump is working well. Shannon also raised that several residents have requested that the city allow water shut-offs for households while property owners are out of town; the council agreed the subject should be added to a future agenda for policy discussion.
The council listed two formal future agenda items: an alleyway matter at a property line involving Travis Hollander and Marc Havens, and a review of the city sidewalk code for possible updates. No final policy changes were made at the meeting.
