Stanton board approves personnel hires, fundraisers, driver’s education and SBRC funding request

At its Sept. 10 meeting, the Stanton Community School District board approved several personnel hires and resignations, authorized multiple student fundraisers, approved driver’s education coursework/instructor, and approved an SBRC request for modified allowable growth and state supplemental aid for a 2024–25 special-education balance.
The Stanton Community School District Board of Directors on Sept. 10 approved routine personnel actions, several student fundraisers and two administrative items.
Under the consent agenda the board approved hires: Josh Porter as Kitchen Assistant, Kristina Skalberg as Dishwasher, Amber Wilson as Paraeducator and Lisa Smith as Basketball Cheer Sponsor. The board accepted resignations from Brianna Nowlin (Paraeducator) and Deanna Hegar (Kitchen Assistant).
Principal Katie Elwood reported on PTSO, Booster Club and student activities and the board approved fundraisers including Sophomore Class concessions at a youth volleyball tournament; the Junior Class selling cookie dough; Junior and Senior Classes selling hot chocolate in November and December at the OLY; and the volleyball team selling pastries.
Later in the meeting the board approved Driver’s Education coursework/instructor (motion by Cameron Lewellen, second by Zach Ward) and approved a School Budget Review Committee (SBRC) request for Modified Allowable Growth and State Supplemental Aid to address the 2024–25 special education balance (motion by Zach Ward, second by Amy Tibben). Both motions carried with a unanimous vote of members present.
These actions were taken as routine business at the board’s regular meeting; no public presenters spoke during the session.
