The superintendent presented results of the biannual TLCC staff climate survey, reporting that 30 district employees completed the instrument and that results declined from two years earlier on several measures.
Key findings cited by administration included a drop in professional development satisfaction ("declined between 11 and 20 points from the prior survey"), staff requests for more planning/collaboration time, and concerns about compensation and recognition as contributors to retention risks. The presenter said the district "will provide more collaborative time for teachers" and is using grant funds to hire instructional coaches: an early-literacy coach serving preschool through third grade shared between Georgetown, Murphy and Carlson, and a 4'12 coach shared among district sites.
Board members and staff discussed next steps: deeper analysis over the summer, use of survey results to inform strategic planning and professional-development design, and return to the board in August with recommendations. The superintendent noted a new survey item on "AI readiness," saying staff want clear guidance on how to use AI and where it must be restricted to preserve assessment integrity.
