Pinckneyville council approves pool contract, equipment repairs, event permits and property actions

At its May 12, 2025 meeting, the Pinckneyville City Council approved multiple operational measures, including a swimming pool management agreement, equipment repairs and event permits, and accepted demolition bids for city-owned properties.
Commissioner Joshua L. Kuhnert presented Resolution No. R-2025-08 authorizing a Swimming Pool Management Service Agreement with Jo C. Summers; the council voted to approve the resolution. The council also approved vendor payments and quotes: an accounts-payable motion added $1,349.58 to Clearwave for internet, four invoices from Egyptian Electric totaling $337.73 and a $39,450.63 payment to ICRMT for a property insurance premium, bringing the total additions to $41,137.94 and the accounts-payable motion passed on roll call.
Operational repairs and capital items approved included emergency backhoe repairs from Fabick Tractor Company totaling $4,574.17 to be paid from the Water Fund; a $9,715.54 quote from Spear to replace the pool chlorine feeder (plus permit fee) to be paid from Pool Capital Outlay; and a $9,642.00 invoice to Logicon Group for non-potable HMI and transmitter replacement to be paid from the Water Fund. Each request was moved, seconded and approved unanimously.
Mayor Spencer introduced resolutions accepting bids from Hagene Excavating, LLC to demolish a city-acquired property at 701 Penina Street (R-2025-09) and a burned house on Taffee Street (R-2025-10); both bids were accepted and placed on file after unanimous council votes. The council also approved Resolution No. R-2025-14 to designate a non-smoking playground area at the Perry County Fairgrounds.
The council approved Resolution No. R-2025-15 authorizing notice of sale for municipally owned industrial property on Blue Bunting Road; City Attorney Don Bigham said bids will be opened at the council's second June meeting, the City may reject bids, and the sale ordinance will include a re-entry clause allowing the City to reclaim the property if the buyer fails to complete the proposed development within 90 days after the anticipated completion date.
Community event permits were approved: street closures and no-parking zones for St. Bruno Catholic Church's parish picnic on June 19, 2025, with barricade support from the City, and a 5K Run/Walk fundraiser organized by Casey McDonnough from the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Wellness Center for Oct. 11, 2025, to benefit the Baby Sarah Playground. During public comment, Genevieve Hester requested that the vacant lot opposite City Hall be mowed before the May 31 Splash Into Summer event; Commissioner Kuhnert said the City would handle it.
The council adjourned to executive session at 6:28 p.m. to discuss employee matters, property sale/lease pricing and security procedures, returned at 6:47 p.m., and adjourned the regular meeting at 6:48 p.m. All recorded roll-call votes in open session were unanimous.
The meeting recorded no dissenting votes on the items summarized above.
