Superintendent Eric Butche told the Moose Lake School Board that the district is experiencing mechanical alarms believed linked to an open ground condition isolated to the gym area, and that the district has had repeated overnight burglar-alarm activations resulting in police dispatches.
Butche said he and business manager Norman Nelis will meet with InBylt this week to discuss next steps in developing a comprehensive facilities maintenance plan; the district has already begun contract work and reviewed scope and deliverables. The business manager also noted the district’s bond principal payment is scheduled for January 2026 at $2,028,620 as part of the regular debt service cycle.
The board also discussed the lack of a permanent public-address system for track and field events; for this spring the district has paired large Bluetooth speakers for use at events and may expand to a larger system for occasional bigger events.
Administration said vendors believe the gym electrical issue has been isolated but that further diagnostics and vendor work will continue. Any material recommended repairs or capital projects would be brought back to the board for review and potential funding approval.
