Council orders engineer's report and sets hearing for Westside landscape and lighting district

Rohnert Park’s City Council on June 23 approved two resolutions initiating renewal of the Westside Landscape & Lighting District (LLD 2024‑01).
Deputy city engineer Justin Brandt explained that the LLD funds ongoing maintenance and improvements for public spaces in a designated zone and noted the district was formed following a development agreement and rezones. Staff said the renewal process requires the city engineer to prepare a preliminary engineer's report and that, based on CPI adjustments, the FY2026‑27 assessment is projected at $76,965.62 in total (packet language also referenced $1,040.08 per unit). If adopted following the required public hearing, assessments would fund continued maintenance of parks, stormwater, streets and lighting in the district.
Council approved the motion to order the report and the motion to adopt the resolution of intention to levy and collect assessments; both took effect with roll call votes of 4–0–1 (Council member Rodriguez absent). Staff set a public hearing for July 28, 2026 to consider approval of the assessments.
