The Moose Lake School Board on Jan. 12 unanimously accepted multiple community donations to support student programs and confirmed coaching staff changes.
The board approved gifts from the Sturgeon Lake Lions Club totaling at least $5,150 across several earmarked purposes: $2,000 to help cover 5th/6th grade transportation to the STARBASE field trip, $650 for the school library, and $2,500 to support creation of a calm space in the social worker’s classroom. Additional contributions accepted for the Circuit Breakers Robotics Team included $50 from Davidson Insurance Agency, $500 from Revolve Labs Inc., and $100 from Lake Area Therapy Services. The motions to accept each donation passed by roll call, with board members Heikkila, Anderson, Peterson, Anderson-Reed, Gerdes and Blondo voting yes and no votes recorded.
The consent agenda also recorded personnel actions: the board approved hiring Dan Fitzsimmons as Interim Boys Head Hockey Coach and Andy Dahl as Head/Assistant Coach for the boys varsity team. Separately, the board accepted the resignation of Tony Bender as Boys Head Hockey Coach effective Dec. 15, 2025. All personnel motions were approved by roll call.
Board Chair Steven Blondo and other members thanked donors and staff for their support of student activities and programming. The board’s formal votes on these items were recorded in the meeting minutes and will be reflected in forthcoming district accounting and personnel records.
The meeting adjourned at 6:08 p.m.
