Board reviews local indicators: 82% of teachers reported with clear credentials; student survey flags secondary safety and engagement

District staff presented the local-indicator self-reflection that accompanies the LCAP, reviewing teaching assignments, instructional-material access, facility conditions and family engagement.

Assistant Superintendent Bob Eert said the district reported 554.6 teaching positions and that 82% of those teachers had a clear credential on state reporting. He cautioned the state categories can be misleading: some staff appear "out of field" because they teach subjects outside their credential area and some records were incomplete at reporting time.

Eert also summarized school-fit findings from the most recent facility report and said 22 district sites were listed in good repair. On school climate measures, he said about half of surveyed students indicated they "like school," and higher concentrations of concern were reported among seventh- and ninth-grade students. "That's something we need to kind of explore more," Eert said.

Principal Eric Preston presented site-level results for Marysville Charter Academy of the Arts, noting small survey response counts (39 parent responses and 43 student responses at the site), and urged continued focus on ELD and science staffing and professional learning.

Board members asked for follow-up comparisons to prior years and clarification about sample sizes. Eert said the California Healthy Kids survey is done on a rotation every two years and that the district participates; he suggested staff would need to pull comparative data to show trends.

The board received the presentations and approved related agenda items during the meeting.
