Petersburg council approves $17,500 asset-management plan and $145,000 park appropriation

The Petersburg Town Council voted to engage HWC to prepare a required utility asset-management plan for $17,500 and approved a separate $145,000 additional appropriation for park fence work and related expenses.

Jesse, the town public works representative, told the council the town’s recent enrollment paperwork (referred to as form 1459) creates a new asset-management requirement and that HWC quoted $17,500 to prepare the plan. "It requires us to do an asset management plan. HWC has a price to do that for us of 17,500," Jesse said. Councilmembers moved and seconded the request and approved the expenditure.

Separately, the council passed Resolution 202602, an additional appropriation of $145,000 to cover park fence work, including the Sterling and small-field fence projects that Jesse reported were complete or nearing completion. The council recorded a motion and second and voted in favor.

Council members also heard routine public-works updates: Milestone is expected to begin the Community Crossings project (topographic work and layout already under way) in early June, crews are winterizing drinking fountains, and wastewater plant crews are performing manhole and lift-station repairs. Jesse described recent roof and beam damage at the town shop uncovered after storms and said staff would evaluate whether in-house repairs are possible or whether outside contractors are needed.

The council’s action on HWC and the park appropriation moves forward budget and compliance work the town identified as necessary; the HWC contract and the appropriation were approved during the regular meeting. The council did not provide an implementation schedule for the HWC deliverable beyond approving the expenditure.
