Sidney CSD board approves policy updates and annual administrative appointments

The Sidney Community School District board unanimously approved updates to five policies and ratified a slate of administrative appointments — including bank depositories and school attorneys — at its Sept. 9 meeting.
Board President Renee Johnson presided over a routine Sept. 9 meeting in which the Sidney Community School District Board of Directors approved several policy updates and made routine administrative appointments.
The board voted 5-0 to adopt policy revisions for 502.10, 503.09, 503.09-R(1), 603.01 and 700. Director Megan Franks moved the motion and Vice President Justin Travis seconded; the motion carried with five ayes and no nays. The board reviewed the draft policies in their packet and raised no suggested edits before the vote.
The board also approved several administrative designations for the 2024–25 school year. Vice President Justin Travis moved (second: Director Darynn Ruiz) to approve Bailey McNees as board secretary and to name Bailey McNees as the district treasurer; both motions passed 5-0. The board named Frank & Sextro, Ahlers Law and Ahlers Law and Johnson PLC as the district’s school attorneys and approved Arbor Bank, First Interstate and ISJIT as official district depositories. The Southwest Iowa Herald was approved as the district’s official publication for 2024–25.
The approvals were presented as routine annual housekeeping items consistent with the district’s standard process for appointing legal counsel, banking relationships and official publications. The board did not request additional information on these items during the meeting.
The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Oct. 21 at 6 p.m.
