Administrators report MCA testing, student Fishing Day, Elkton visit and graduation dates

District administration told the board MCA testing is underway, a Fishing Day for grades 4–6 is planned May 16 (backup May 19) with poles and bait provided and a MN DNR Fisheries representative invited, a sixth-grade visit to Elkton is tentatively set for May 12, and kindergarten and sixth-grade graduations are scheduled for May 22.
During the April 23 meeting Mr. Hansen provided the board with routine administrative updates about testing, field trips and graduation logistics. He said MCA testing is underway. He reported grades four through six are scheduled for a Fishing Day on May 16 with a May 19 backup; the district is coordinating with the Lake Benton Sportsman's Club and plans to provide poles and bait, and a representative from MN DNR Fisheries in Windom has been invited to join students. Hansen also reported a tentative sixth-grade visit to Elkton on May 12 for staff presentations, student shadowing and lunch. Kindergarten and sixth-grade graduation ceremonies are set for May 22, with kindergarten at 9 a.m. and sixth grade at 1 p.m.
These items were provided as informational reports to the board; no formal votes were required. The administration also noted prior discussions with teachers’ association representatives and legal counsel on calendar, snow days and use of e-learning days (reported separately by Mr. Woelber).
