The CCRPC Executive Committee voted to approve three staff-drafted comment letters on pending land-use and energy notices.
Taylor Newton, planning program director, summarized each item. For Williston (Act 250 case 4C1365) Newton said the site is served by water and wastewater and lies in an area planned for growth; staff reported no land-use or traffic concerns and members approved staff's drafted comment letter. For Essex Junction (Section 248 notice 25-1977-PET) Newton said the proposed 3 MW solar installation would be sited on top of an existing GlobalFoundries parking lot; the item was a 45-day notice and the committee approved the letter. For the Burlington battery project (Section 248 25-2005-AN) Newton said the small battery project near the McNeil Plant on Intervale Road is in the river corridor and may host two rare species; the committee emphasized flood safety and ecological review before approving the letter as drafted.
Motions and seconds were recorded for each approval: Jacki Murphy moved to approve the Williston letter (seconded by Andy Montroll); Chris Shaw moved for the Essex Junction solar letter (seconded by Andy Montroll); and Andy Montroll moved to approve the Burlington battery letter (seconded by Karen Peterson). All motions passed.
Newton said staff will continue review on ecological and flood-safety concerns for the Burlington site and will refine comments as needed before submission.
