The Village of Pelham Board of Trustees adopted Local Law No. 3 of 2026 on a unanimous voice vote to amend chapter 8 of the Pelham Village Code concerning video conferencing for public meetings.
The mayor explained that the state law enabling remote participation has been extended through 2028, and said adopting the local law preserves the village’s process for allowing Zoom participation. The board opened a public hearing on the measure, recorded no substantive public comments at the hearing, closed the hearing, and then moved to adopt the local law; the adoption passed 6-0.
Trustees said the local law will allow staff to continue offering remote access under the statutory framework and ensure the village remains compliant with state requirements. The board made no changes to the law at the meeting and did not schedule further hearings.
The law takes effect according to municipal procedures for local laws; staff will update remote-access instructions and public notices to reflect the village’s continued use of video conferencing.
