The Palm Springs Parks and Recreation Department presented its summer events calendar at the commission’s June 22 meeting, highlighting family‑oriented programs and several partnership efforts.
Department staff said the dive‑in movie series will begin Saturday, June 27, at the Palm Springs Swim Center, and includes a July 3 showing timed for the Independence Day weekend. Village Fest events start with a July 2 kickoff featuring games, crafts and live music, and staff outlined a full July 4 schedule that begins with a 3 p.m. pool party, a Palm Springs Power baseball game at 6 p.m., a concert and a 9:15 p.m. fireworks spectacular near Sunrise Park.
Other announced events include a free community backpack drive and resource fair on Aug. 4 at the leisure center and pavilion offering school supplies, haircuts and resources for TK–12 students; a City‑run “Palm Springs Local Mondays” program with discounted admission at the Palm Springs Surf Club for residents through Aug. 10; and an end‑of‑summer glow‑in‑the‑dark pool party on Aug. 29.
Staff emphasized family access and community partnerships, noting free daily Swim Center admission for youth ages 12 and under and scholarship support for swim lessons and other programs. The department also said additional event flyers and a more detailed summer guide were distributed to commissioners and posted online.
The department asked commissioners to help promote events and noted that some activities rely on vendor and production agreements already approved by City Council.
