Lake Benton board elects officers, keeps stipends and mileage rate

Chairperson Tony Schwing called the Lake Benton Public School District board to order at 7:00 p.m. and the board completed its annual reorganization, electing officers and confirming compensation for trustees.
The board elected Tony Schwing as chair (motion by Trustee Heath Houselog; second by Trustee Janell DeVries) and Heath Houselog as vice chair (motion by Trustee Janell DeVries; second by Trustee Steven Hurd). Trustee Steven Hurd was elected clerk (motion by Trustee Janell DeVries; second by Trustee Heath Houselog) and Trustee Janell DeVries was elected treasurer (motion by Trustee Steven Hurd; second by Trustee Heath Houselog). All motions carried.
The board retained current stipend and mileage levels: trustees will receive $55 per meeting and the chair and clerk $80 per meeting; mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS rate of $0.70 per mile. Trustee Heath Houselog moved the stipend and mileage motion, and Trustee Suiter seconded; the motion passed.
Trustee Osland was assigned to replace former trustee Rudebusch on select committees; the motion to keep committee assignments otherwise unchanged passed on a motion by Trustee Houselog and a second from Trustee Hurd.
Each election and compensation motion was moved and seconded on the record and the board indicated passage on each vote. No individual no-votes or abstentions were recorded in the meeting transcript. The meeting proceeded to routine agenda items following the reorganization.
