Ocilla approves SPLOST-funded police vehicle and $25,000 for turnout gear

The council voted to allow one vehicle to be purchased at this time and authorized spending up to $35,000 from SPLOST funds; the motion passed 5-0. Police Chief Billy Hancock was absent from the meeting.
Fire Chief Will Towson asked the council to approve purchase of 10 sets of turnout gear for current staff and new volunteers. Councilwoman Patrice Y.W. Manley moved and Councilwoman Claire Clayton seconded a motion to approve up to $25,000 for turnout gear to be paid from General, SPLOST and/or grant funds; the motion passed unanimously.
