Ocilla council adopts revitalization resolution, approves 2020 LMIG projects and discusses mowing arrangement

Mayor Matt Seale read the Revitalization Area Strategy designation resolution and Councilwoman Mona Paulk moved to adopt it. Councilwoman Patrice Y.W. Manley seconded the motion, which passed 5–0. Seale said the resolution was read as part of routine agenda business to advance the city's revitalization planning.
On the question of mowing several city properties (City Hall, Community House, Neighborhood Center, College Hill Park, Cumbee Park and the Police Department), Seale reported he spoke with Carlos Glover, owner of C & C Lawn and Pressure Washing Service, about a potential payment to handle the work. "As the Council requested the Mayor offered to pay him $1,000 to mow all properties and Mr. Glover said he could not mow all the properties listed above for that amount," Seale said. Assistant Public Works Director Corneilus Hall told the council he would place the mowing on the public works work schedule; the mayor said the city could put the work back out for bid if in-house resources did not cover it.
Mayor Seale also reviewed the LMIG 2019 and 2020 project lists with the council. Councilman Lemora Moses moved to proceed with the 2020 LMIG projects and Councilwoman Mona Paulk seconded; the motion passed 4–0 after Councilwoman Patrice Y.W. Manley left the meeting early. The LMIG item was presented as a continuation of the city's pavement and road maintenance planning for the year.
The council completed routine business earlier in the meeting, including adopting a relaxed agenda and approving the minutes of the Feb. 10, 2020 regular meeting. A motion to adjourn, moved by Councilwoman Mona Paulk and seconded by Councilman Steven Hudson, carried 4–0 and Mayor Seale adjourned the session.
