Ocilla council reappoints planning members and adopts CDBG resolution; disclosure recorded

The Ocilla City Council on Feb. 10 approved reappointments to local planning bodies and adopted a resolution to participate in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 2020 Neighborhood Revitalization program; both votes were unanimous.
Mayor Matt Seale read a recommendation from Irwin County Building and Zoning Administrator Jessica Harris. The council reappointed Phil Croft and Arlinda Murrell to the Planning and Advisory Commission for 2020–2023 and appointed Nancy Mitchell (2020–2021) and Tara Smith (2020–2023) to the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Separately, the mayor stated the minutes must record a potential conflict of interest for the CDBG program: Wayne Coney Jr., a city heavy machine operator, is applying for housing rehabilitation that may be served through the CDBG program. The mayor said that disclosure is required in the record before the submittal resolution is passed; no separate vote was required to note the disclosure.
The council then voted to adopt the city’s CDBG 2020 Neighborhood Revitalization resolution by unanimous voice vote.
