Ocilla council authorizes $650 mowing offer, directs rebid if refused

The Ocilla City Council on Feb. 10 authorized Mayor Matt Seale to offer $650 per mowing to the only bidder for city properties and instructed staff to rebid the contract if that offer is refused.
Council members reviewed a single submission from C & C Lawn and Pressure Washing Service that itemized prices for several properties and totaled $1,225 per mowing. After discussion the council voted 4-1 to allow the mayor to make a $650-per-mowing offer; Councilwoman Mona Paulk opposed that motion. Paulk then moved, and Councilman Steven Hudson seconded, a separate motion that the city rebid the mowing contract if the mayor’s offer is denied; that motion passed 5-0.
The properties described in the bid package included Cumbee Park, College Hill Park, the Neighborhood Center, the Community House, City Hall and the Police Department. Council members did not record an amended bid schedule in the minutes beyond the authorized $650 offer and the direction to rebid if the offer is rejected.
The council’s actions were taken during the meeting’s business session and were approved by recorded voice vote.
