Board welcomes Claire as student member and celebrates spring athletics

At the June 22 meeting the Shakopee Public School District board announced Claire as the district’s incoming ex‑officio student member for a two‑year term beginning July 1, 2026, and invited her to share why she sought the role. Claire said family experiences with levy cuts motivated her to ensure district programs are preserved for students.
Director of Athletics Matt Hansen and coaches gave a comprehensive spring athletics and activities report. Coach Zack Haskins highlighted state‑level results: the program qualified multiple athletes and relay teams for state competition and set seven new school records across events including the boys 1600, 3200 and high jump and girls hurdles and relays. Teams and individual performers earned all‑state placements and there were strong academic achievements among athletes — for example, 13 of 20 softball athletes had GPAs of 3.7 or higher. Coaches noted program growth and several open coaching positions being filled ahead of next season.
The board and audience recognized student athletes in the room and applauded the year’s accomplishments as the district prepares for summer activities and fall planning.
