"This is not youthful indiscretion or artistic exaggeration. It is deeply disturbing content that sexualizes exploitation of children," she said.
Tim McCaffrey, the District 3 candidate who was named in the comment, came to the podium to respond. "The song Leftovers is about my wife," he said. "It was silly when we wrote it. She's an adult and was an adult when I wrote it."
McCaffrey said he regretted that the song had been interpreted as something else, reiterated his nonpartisan status and urged the public to call him or his wife for context. He also said he had been working to avoid disparaging opponents during the campaign.
The Board did not take formal action on the public comment; the exchange occurred during the oral communications portion of the meeting.
