Mayor Monachino Lapey and Village Manager Luft announced that Pelham Manor has engaged AKRF to perform a village-wide roadway evaluation aimed at improving pedestrian and traffic safety.
Manager Luft said the Village released a Request for Quotation, received four proposals and selected AKRF, noting the firm’s prior planning work in the Sound Shore area. “We are embarking on a Village-Wide roadway evaluation,” Manager Luft said, adding that consultant site visits at Siwanoy School and a community survey will begin in the coming weeks and continue through the summer.
The review responds to the Village’s ongoing pedestrian- and traffic-safety efforts. The consultant team will analyze roadway conditions and public input; Manager Luft said the consultants expect to return a draft document around December. The Village will keep the online survey open over the summer and do a final push before back-to-school to collect resident responses.
Manager Luft also said she and DPW staff attended a State session on local highway inventory and potential state funding changes that could benefit Pelham Manor’s paving program. The announcement did not include specific funding commitments or a construction schedule.
Next steps: the Village will host site visits, keep a public survey open through the summer, and review the consultant’s draft later in the year.
