Town Manager Wade Yost told commissioners June 22 that Steven's Park summer camp is set to begin June 29 after staff training, and that architecturals for a restroom and concession project — funded by a $310,000 community parks and playground grant — are underway with bids expected by fall.
Yost also reported an asphalt-path replacement near Ferry Crossing will commence midweek and that town wells are not showing excessive drawdowns despite elevated summer use; he encouraged residents to conserve water by fixing leaks and reducing lawn watering. The manager noted the town is monitoring a dry spell and that elevated demand can challenge supplies in peak months.
Yost flagged five accidents at the curve between Partnership Road and the town boundary, which he said the town discussed with the State Highway Administration during the MML conference. Commissioners requested follow-up from SHA on safety improvements at that curve.
Several commissioners recapped Maryland Municipal League sessions and vendor meetings, reporting leads on streetscape light vendors, inclusive-playground design, community-engagement models (Community Heart and Soul), tourism/PR options (Visit Montgomery), and safety technology such as solar speed cameras. Commissioners encouraged targeted follow-ups with vendors and suggested field trips to municipalities with successful streetscape projects.
