Parks Director Lina Hicks explained the amendment would allocate $15,000 previously authorized by council as follows: $8,500 for parade route barriers, $2,500 for overtime compensation for six additional city staff to help staff the event, and $4,000 to the chamber to hire security and event staff. Hicks said the funds had already been authorized in a prior meeting and this resolution breaks down how the city will spend that allocation.
Council moved to approve the resolution, which passed by voice vote. No amendment or dissent was recorded during the motion and vote.
The funding is intended to cover barriers, overtime and contracted staffing for the city's July 4 parade and related public-safety needs.
