Douglas County approves $9.02 million supplemental to 2026 budget

The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution on June 23 to supplement the adopted 2026 budget by $9,016,864 to recognize new revenues and carry forward unspent grant dollars into the current fiscal year.
Ryan Bolger, the county’s budget analyst, told the board the supplemental affects six funds, including the general fund (about $800,000), the developmental disabilities fund (about $534,000), public health (about $2.1 million) and a sales‑use tax fund (about $5.2 million), among others. With this supplemental, Bolger said the county’s amended 2026 budget would total $756,975,363 — a 16.3% increase over the originally adopted budget.
Commissioner Kishor Layden moved to approve the resolution as described; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Commissioners and staff characterized the request as routine budget housekeeping to apply newly received revenues and previously awarded grants to the appropriate line items.
