City staff told the Belpre City Council that water and wastewater projects will move forward this spring. The council was told the water tank project will resume construction in May and that SCADA site work is planned to start in April. Safety-Service Director Mr. Rhodes said lift station assessments at Rockland and Clement will kick off, and the city will begin a valve assessment funded by a $20,000 grant.
Mr. Rhodes also updated council on metering work: he reported that 99% of MXUs (metering communication units) have been installed, with fewer than 10 remaining that require new meters and MXUs because of location issues. He said ordered parts are on the way for those installations.
Street and water crews are actively patching potholes and preparing for lining demonstrations. Mr. Rhodes told council that Advanced Rehab Technology will perform a free demonstration to line a manhole, arranged through meetings with water department staff.
Mayor Abdella said the city posted a Water Reclamation Operator opening; the position requires the hire to obtain certification within 18 months. No Council votes were taken on project funding at this meeting; staff provided timelines and said follow‑up items will return to committee for further review.
