Long Beach raises sewer rate to $57.50 and asks engineer follow-up on MN Hwy 28/29 project

The Long Beach City Council approved a 2019 sewer unit rate of $57.50 per month — a 4 percent increase — at its Nov. 14 meeting. The motion to adopt the rate was moved by Mike Pfeiffer and seconded by Gerald Rust; the minutes record the motion carried but do not include a roll-call tally.
Dennis Dalager of People Service delivered the monthly sewer report: installation of two floats at the lift station on North Lakeshore Drive and MN Hwy 28/29, pigging of the 4-inch and 6-inch lines, several locates related to a new fiber-optic line, one call-out to 23311 MN Hwy 28/29, and completed pump calibrations. The council also approved a motion (moved by Mike Pfeiffer; seconded by Bill Rood) to send letters to certify unpaid sewer balances to property taxes. On the 2018 Sewer Project along MN Hwy 28/29, Mark Lee Excavating recommended insulating areas with minimal cover rather than lowering the line for cost reasons; the council directed Mike Pfeiffer to obtain additional information from engineer Tom Klemenhagen of Land Team Inc. The council postponed review of its eight-year plan pending that additional information.
