Lyon County library trustees approve claims; director announces Dollar General summer-reading grant

The Board of Trustees of the Lyon County Library System met May 26, 2026, at 20 Nevin Way in Yerington and by videoconference. Trustee Jan Schardt moved to adopt the meeting agenda and Trustee Patti Palmer seconded; the motion was adopted unanimously. Trustee Patti Palmer moved to approve the April 28, 2026 meeting minutes (Trustee Kay Edwards seconded), and the board unanimously approved the minutes. Trustee Palmer then moved to accept the claims for May 26, 2026 (Trustee Jan Schardt seconded), and that motion was also approved unanimously.
Library Director Wynne Prindle thanked staff for managing library operations during her recent vacation and announced that the Yerington Branch received a Dollar General grant to support its Summer Reading program; the minutes do not specify the grant amount. Prindle also reported that the Fernley Branch has a new staff member. The reports were informational and did not include follow-up motions or funding approvals beyond the grant announcement.
Trustee Kay Edwards reported that the Silver Stage Friends held a book sale to support Summer Reading and that the group received a Dollar General grant and additional donations. Trustee Jan Schardt said the Smith Valley branch is preparing for the end of the school year and the start of summer reading activities. Trustee Patti Palmer noted the Fernley Friends will hold a book sale on May 30.
