Board approves $6,300 for juvenile probation officer physicals to comply with AB 93

The Lyon County Board on June 4 approved $6,300 in FY2027 funding for juvenile probation officer physicals to comply with Assembly Bill 93, which takes effect July 1, 2026.
Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Brian Kirkley said the request was to remain in compliance with statute and noted the funding will be requested next fiscal year. Commissioners asked questions and Mr. Kirkley answered; Commissioner David Hockaday moved to approve transferring $6,300 from the General Fund contingency to cover the cost. Commissioner Robert Jacobson seconded the motion, which passed 5-0.
Staff indicated this funding will be included in the FY2027 budget and that future budget requests will reflect the statutory requirement.
