Lamont PUD adopts FY 2026-27 budget, keeps elections consolidated with Kern County

The Lamont Public Utility District Board of Directors on Tuesday adopted the districts fiscal year 2026-27 budget and authorized continued consolidation of the districts election services with Kern County.
Board President Tim Prado called the meeting to order at 6:06 p.m. and a quorum was present. General Manager and District Secretary Scott Taylor presented the final FY 2026-27 budget for the boards consideration.
Director Juan Sanchez moved to adopt Resolution 2026-2 approving the final FY 2026-27 budget; Vice President Alonso seconded the motion. The board approved the resolution on a roll call vote of 4-0 (SanchezY, AlonsoY, EspinozaY, PradoY).
Taylor also explained the districts rationale for continuing consolidated election services with Kern County, saying it would be cost-prohibitive for the district to administer elections on its own and noting the district has used Kern Countys services for more than 20 years. Director Sanchez moved to adopt Resolution 2026-3 to continue consolidated election services; Director Espinoza seconded. The board approved the resolution on a 4-0 roll call vote.
The consent calendar was approved earlier in the meeting by a 4-0 vote.
The board did not discuss changes to the approved budget or the election-consolidation arrangement beyond the staff presentations and motions recorded; no amendments were proposed at the meeting. The board recessed to closed session later in the evening and reconvened before adjourning at 7:13 p.m.
