Board members praised Dr. Mike Swan's leadership and recognized him as Northwest RESA’s 2027 regional superintendent of the year before voting to extend his contract and approve additional personal days.
Dr. Terry Warup opened the meeting’s recognition, noting the Northwest Regional Education Service Alliance named Dr. Mike Swan the 2027 regional superintendent of the year for leadership and district initiatives. Several board members offered personal remarks thanking Dr. Swan for his work and availability to families and staff.
The board then voted to extend Dr. Swan’s contract for one year by voice vote. Separately, the board approved an addition of three personal bonus days to Dr. Swan’s contract; that motion was approved by roll call with Mr. Beck recorded as the lone no vote and other listed members voting yes. The chair confirmed the bonus days must be used within the next 365 days.
